Photography and Social MediaThe Old Courthouse is a historic pub in the heart of Cheltenham, housed in a former Victorian courthouse on County Court Road.
The brief was simple: more presence on social media. New summer dishes needed to be seen.
Food photography, art direction, and a series of Instagram-ready posts - each pairing a seasonal dish with a cocktail, shot on location.
The meal begins before you've decided what you want. Warm breads arrive with oil and balsamic. Then something fried, something fresh, something with a little heat. Crispy okra with coriander and lime yoghurt. Sriracha king prawns with mango salsa. Halloumi fries with jalapeño mayonnaise. The kind of opening that makes the table feel alive before the mains even arrive.
The summer menu is where the kitchen earns its confidence. A sweet potato, chickpea and tender stem tagine with apricot cous cous and mint coconut yoghurt. King prawn linguine in a white wine and fennel cream sauce. Pan seared sea bass with smoked haddock chowder, saffron potatoes and sea vegetables. And for those who came for the grill - an 8oz British sirloin, 28 days dry aged, with chunky chips and pepper sauce. Generous plates. Honest cooking. Nothing overcomplicated.
The dessert menu reads like a greatest hits of British pudding, done properly. Biscoff cheesecake with raspberry sorbet. Cherry and almond Bakewell with kirsch cherries and vanilla ice cream. Sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce. Crème brûlée, glazed and low sugar. White chocolate and passionfruit posset. The sort of list that makes skipping dessert feel like a bad decision.
The brief was to create content that could stop a scroll without shouting. Each post pairs a new seasonal dish with a cocktail - an Aperol spritz, a mojito, a passionfruit martini - shot on the same dark wooden table, with the same candle and salt and pepper in the background. Consistent enough to feel like a series. Warm enough to feel like an invitation.
The format was designed to work at every size. Full bleed on a phone screen. Clean enough to print. The "Summer Vibes" badge adds just enough energy without tipping into noise.
